László Kubala, born on June 10, 1927, was a legendary Hungarian footballer who also played for Spain's national team. He is widely considered as one of the greatest players of his generation and a true icon of Barcelona Football Club. Kubala had a unique style of play and was known for his outstanding ball control, dribbling skills, and ability to score goals both from free kicks and open play.
Kubala started his professional career playing for Ferencvaros in Hungary before moving to Czechoslovakia to join Slovan Bratislava, where he played for two seasons. He then moved to Italy to play for Torino, but his career was cut short due to a car accident. Kubala moved to Spain in 1950 and played for Espanyol before joining Barcelona in 1951, where he became a club legend.
During his time at Barcelona, Kubala won numerous titles, including four La Liga titles, five Copa del Rey titles, and two Latin Cup titles. He also helped Barcelona reach the European Cup final in 1961, where they lost to Benfica. Kubala scored 194 goals in 256 appearances for Barcelona, making him one of the club's all-time top scorers.
After retiring from playing, Kubala went on to become a coach and managed several clubs, including Barcelona, Espanyol, and the Spanish national team. He passed away on May 17, 2002, at the age of 74.
